The 11th Joint Regional Policy Steering Committee (JRPSC) meeting of the Lake Victoria Basin Commission’s projects and programs will be held in Kisumu from January 29th to 31st, 2025.
The meeting will bring together ministries responsible for Water, Environment and Natural Resources, and Maritime Transport and Communications.
The session for senior officials is scheduled for January 29th and 30th, while Permanent/Principal Secretaries and Undersecretaries will attend on January 31st.
Participants will include representatives from the five East African Community (EAC) Partner States, namely the Republic of Kenya, Republic of Uganda, Republic of Burundi, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of South Sudan, and the United Republic of Tanzania.
The JRPSC provides policy oversight and guidance to the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) to ensure the successful implementation of regional projects and programs.
During this meeting, the committee will review the status of decisions and directives from the previous JRPSC meeting held from January 30th to February 3rd, 2023, and assess progress in project implementation.
The regional programs and projects to be discussed at the Joint JRPSC include:

The meeting will also provide policy guidance on the commission’s efforts to develop new projects and mobilize additional resources to effectively execute its mandate as outlined in the Protocol for Sustainable Development of the Lake Victoria Basin.
The final report of the 11th JRPSC will be presented to the 23rd meeting of the Sectoral Council of Ministers for Lake Victoria Basin (SECOM-LVB) for adoption and further directives.
